The Rotary Club of Clare have held their annual art exhibition since 1998. The art exhibition gave local artists an opportunity to exhibit their art as there was no local art gallery. Visitors to the annual art show were treated to a show case of the tremendous local talent and gave artists a chance to sell their artworks. The art show, now run in conjunction with the Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend (see South Australia Tourism, Clare Valley for details), showcases not only our local artists but artists from around Australia.
Currently the show exhibits between 450 - 550 artworks and the value of prizes awarded to artists exceeds $18,000 over 14 different categories, with three (3) of these being aquisitive prizes.
Our art exhibition would not succeed without the support of our artists, both local and interstate. Many of these artists have been exhibiting their artworks with us for quite a few years and their continued support is greatly appreciated.
This event requires a huge commitment from the members of the Rotary Club of Clare, their partners, Friends of Rotary and other local volunteers; and without this commitment the show would have not had such continual success.
Most importantly, we must thank our local sponsors who's generous donations presented as prizes has been greatly appreciated.
Funds raised from this event have been put towards local projects. Recent years have seen the following projects receive funding:
