Spells by Natalie Uhrik

ARTIST NOTES: Original work inspired by secluded escapes. That little road that no-one else knows about where you can let yourself go.

She's freedom, joy and love. She's dancing barefoot in the rain, no care in the world. Sunbeams, light, nature, colour and dreams. Complete spiritual fulfilment.

With the current ban on overseas travel, the longing to  travel is stronger than ever for.

When the body is forced to stay still, the mind takes flight and so, these dreamy landscapes were born.

ARTIST BIO

Passionate about art from a young age, Australian based artist, Natalie Uhrik has always been pulled by her creative side, dabbling in various mediums including film and ceramics as a means of expressing her inner self.

When not elbow deep in paint, Natalie is busy being a mother to her daughters. She also runs a successful cake business. She holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts degree from Sydney College of the Arts and only recently in January 2020 begun to focus on her arts career after many years of working in the hospitality industry and focusing on her family life.

The principal theme in Natalie's work is nature and landscapes. She often revisits past trips taken when painting, both Australian and abroad. With a range of painting techniques, line, texture and colour, her pieces mimic the elements of nature and create a kind of ambience.

Natalie incorporates imagery from memories to convey emotion and build a narrative in her art. Music also plays a large role in how she communicates form onto canvas, painting from a deep subconscious; trusting her intuition and ‘letting go’. These free flowing layers of colour and spontaneous movements create feelings of calm, happiness, peace, energy and optimism.

With the current ban on overseas travel, the longing to travel is stronger than ever before, forcing the mind to take flight...and so, these dreamy landscapes were born.
